Clean Socks Make You Healthier

Clean Socks Make You Healthier Monday, February 4th, 2013. Keeping your clothes clean helps keep them stain-free and prevent unwanted odors, but have you ever thought about how having clean clothes can actually be beneficial to your health? When it comes to the health of your feet, keeping your socks clean is one of the easiest things you can do to improve yourself. The right socks are very important, but so is proper hygiene concerning those socks. Follow these helpful tips to keep your socks cleaner and feet healthier: Change your socks. Socks should be changed at least once a day if not more often. If your feet are prone to sweating, you should change your socks more regularly, like 2 to 3 times a day. Wash your socks regularly. Socks should go through the washing machine after every use to keep them clean and prevent fungal growth. Do not put socks back on until they have dried completely. Turn socks inside out. Dirt and bacteria can build up inside of your socks. Washing your socks both right side and inside out will completely clean your socks and can eliminate all forms of dirt and bacteria that may be harmful to your feet. Use antiperspirant sprays and powders. Sprinkle or spray a layer of antiperspirant into your socks before every run to keep your feet dry and protect them from fungal infections. Remove wet socks. If your socks get wet, you should take them off immediately and change them. You should not put socks back on your feet until they have thoroughly dried. Never borrow. Borrowing socks between friends or family members may seem harmless, but it can spread fungal infections. Even shoes or slippers can spread infections. If you need to borrow footwear make sure to bring your own socks. Socks will add a protective layer between your feet and the unknown footwear.
